Description

Constance McAdam was an important figure in Arlington County’s Department of Parks and Recreation. She came to Arlington in 1958 and by the time of her interview had become the Assistant Director of the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Resources. Ms. McAdam’s career involved creating programs for a variety of groups of people in Arlington, especially expanding services for senior citizens. One of the first projects Ms. McAdam worked on was integration within the parks department, including sponsoring integrated dances for teens.
