Article dated May 6, 1961, tells of the shooting death of Emmett Chavis by an Alexandria police officer, the grand jury's refusal to indict, and the NAACP's response. Article dated July 14, 1961, reports on the suspended sentence of Leonard Siton Brown for disorderly conduct in Alexandria. Details given on the case and Brown's plans to appeal.
